Marrying Up
I married up. Here's one of many reasons.
I often tell people I married up. When I say it, they almost universally agree! That’s because they know my wife, Pam. We’ve known each other for over 40 years. I met her when she was in High School, and I was in college. (Don’t lecture me. I already know how bad it sounds!) At any rate, we’ve grown up together. We laughed with one another, experienced our happy times and shared in times of sorrow. Along the way, we’ve managed to raise two kids, care for a slew of animals, and move several times.
She’s always been a dedicated and hard worker. She loves building teams because she loves building people. I watched her rise through the ranks from a temporary employee checking workers in at the local dump to becoming a Vice President, Strategy and Partnerships at Kelly Services. Throughout that time, she’s maintained her integrity, led by example, and been a force for good.
I’ve always celebrated her, but it’s good when someone else does, too. And that’s why I’m taking the time to share this news with you. Pam was recently named by the SIA to their Global 150 Women In Staffing list. Her litany of accomplishments sometimes makes my head spin. But as much as it does, I’m captivated more by who she is. She’s an incredible wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She’s a remarkable human making an extraordinary difference in this world, which isn’t easy.
So, on this day, I, her biggest fan, am using this space to say two simple things to her. “Congratulations, and I love you.”
And, oh yes, I married up.
